I'm a self-confessed cookware junkie and professionally-trained house chef. I have at least 60 or so specific pots and pans, and truly use most of them on a regular basis. I've been biased toward Calphalon Anodized (not non-stick) for nearly 20 years, and even now enjoy the line. I got into Calphalon Tri-Ply, that is superb, but believed I'd attempt this pan to see when the worth was there.

IMHO, Calphalon Tri-Ply, Cuisinart Multiclad, and KitchenAid Clad all have far surpassed All-Clad for a range of elements. Normally, All-Clad hasn't transformed its design in ages, and has missed out on a number of actually real improvements.

To Wit: the rolled lip that eliminates pouring drips and runs of liquid down the outside in the pan. A straightforward enhancement, but a big 1 for simplifying clean-up later, and for whatever surface you rest the pan on. So far, I think Calphalon has the ideal lids -- glass, deep draw, and very nicely fitting. This Cuisinart pan's top fits acceptably perfectly, but it is most most likely the weak link. As for strengths, this pan weighs in as heavy or heavier than either the All-Clad or Calphalon offerings of comparable size, so that's a large win for heat dispersion and uniformity (All-Clad has turn out to be definitely thin more than the a lot of years!). In contrast to the KitchenAid, the exterior is matte completed except for the best 1/2 inch or so. This helps to make positive that the pan will appear excellent despite real-world use. The shape is good -- not as well tall and narrow, so it works properly over a small burner.

Lastly there is the cope with. This does not have the cool-V style in the Calphalon, but it stays quite awesome anyway. I've a main trouble with All-Clad handles, that are very unpleasant for me, the way I lift pans (I've genuinely strong arms and wrists, so I commonly lift pans overhand, in contrast to a number of who go underhand to obtain the extra muscle leverage). Lifting overhand, the All-Clad handles dig into my palm inside a really unpleasant way. These Cuisinart (and Calphalon and KitchenAid) handles do not.

4.five stars general; 1/2 star docked for that lid being less than perfect (but nonetheless as excellent as all the competition except Calphalon).

UPDATE: I've compared the Cuisinart Multiclad Pro and All-Clad Stainless pans part by side, and if something, the Cuisinarts are heavier duty, unquestionably not meaningfully lighter! The All-Clad LTD pans (some of them) do look being thicker/heavier than their stainless counterparts, but then we're comparing apples and oranges, and in any event it's pretty really a great deal gilding the lily to go a excellent deal thicker than they are already. The pouring lip close to the Cuisinarts is truly a substantial in-use benefit too (far less messy).
On the whole, the Multiclad Pro line is definitely an incredible bargain. Research my assessments for other comments about these vis-a-vis Calphalon and so on.
